They won by eight wickets in their Super Sixes, Group 2 match at the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup. Abdul Subhan was amazing, taking 4 wickets while only giving up 11 runs. New Zealand just fell apart and were all out for 110 in about 28 overs.
Pakistan needed 111 to win, and they got there pretty easily, scoring 112/2 in just over 17 overs. Sameer Minhas played a blinder, smacking 76 off 59 balls. Usman Khan chipped in with 15, and Farhan Yousaf got 11 not out. Pakistan was in control the whole time.
New Zealand started cautiously, but Pakistan’s bowling was just too good. Ali Raza and Abdul Subhan put the pressure on early. Ali Raza got Marco William Alpe out leg before wicket for just 2. Hugo Bogue tried to make things better with a quick 39, including six 4s and two 6s.
But then Captain Tom Jones got out for 15 after Abdul Subhan bowled him out. New Zealand was in trouble at 59/3. The rest of the team just couldn’t handle it. Jacob Cotter, Jaskaran Sandhu, and Brandon Matzopoulos didn’t score much. Abdul Subhan ended up with 4/11 in just six and a bit overs, and Ali Raza grabbed 3 wickets for 36 runs.
Mason Clarke scored 17 off 48 balls, but it was too late. The New Zealand innings showed they couldn’t build any partnerships. They just couldn’t deal with the pressure and ended up with 110, way short of the overs they had.
Pakistan came out swinging. Hamza Zahoor got out early for 8, but Sameer Minhas held things together with a great 76 off 59 balls, including ten 4s and two 6s. He knew how to score, and Pakistan scored quickly, making it easy for the team.
Usman Khan scored 15 off 24 balls, while Farhan Yousaf added a quick 11 not out. Pakistan won comfortably. The 8-wicket win showed how good Pakistan’s batting is. Abdul Subhan’s bowling was great, and the batting was cool and calm, showing that the team is tough in the Super Sixes.
Abdul Subhan was the best player of the match. He took important wickets at key times. His 4/11 ruined New Zealand’s batting lineup and set Pakistan up for the win. Sameer Minhas also did great!
Ali Raza also got 3 wickets, and Momin Qamar bowled well, only giving up 21 runs in 5 overs. Farhan Yousaf finished things off well. Hugo Bogue’s 39 was the best New Zealand could do in response!

When they batted, they were careful but aggressive. Minhas knew how to score while putting loose balls away. They played well and didn’t let New Zealand put them under any pressure.
New Zealand didn’t play well. They lost early wickets and couldn’t build partnerships. They didn’t deal with Subhan’s spin and Ali Raza’s bowling. They just didn’t know how to respond at important times.
The game was mostly fair. Some people thought Hunter Shore and Luke Harrison bowled well without getting wickets. Some leg before wicket decisions from New Zealand were talked about.
New Zealand’s lower order fell apart, and some questioned their shot choices while facing spin from Subhan and pace from Ali Raza.
New Zealand Under-19s only managed 110 runs in a little under 29 overs. Abdul Subhan’s amazing 4/11 came at less than 2 runs per over. Ali Raza’s 3 wickets were also important. Pakistan scored the winning runs in just over 17 overs, with Sameer Minhas scoring 76 not out.
The match showed that Pakistan is strong at bowling and batting!
With this win, Pakistan Under-19s have some points in Super Sixes Group 2. Strong performances from Abdul Subhan and Sameer Minhas will be needed in the next games.
New Zealand needs to do better if they want to win their remaining games. Key players such as Hugo Bogue and Mason Clarke will need to put some work in!
Pakistan’s Under-19s played a heck of a game. Abdul Subhan’s performance was just unbelievable. All of his hard work turned the game around in Pakistan’s direction in less than seven overs!
Sameer Minhas’s innings was great! His knock showed he knew how to score while balancing it out with keeping his wicket intact. Subhan’s bowling and Minhas’s batting really complimented each other!
New Zealand, even with flashes of brilliance from Hugo Bogue, failed to deal with the pressure situations. The lack of partnerships and inability to deal with spin exposed them. The squad needs to improve a lot on the batting side!
The match also pointed out Pakistan’s team depth, with important contributions from Ali Raza, Momin Qamar, and Farhan Yousaf, which is always a benefit.
Looking ahead, players such as Abdul Subhan, Sameer Minhas, and Farhan Yousaf are likely going to put in amazing performances in the up and coming fixtures! New Zealand will need to reassess what they are doing wrong to avoid exiting early!
