The Bangladesh Premier League final on January 23, 2026, at Shere Bangla National Stadium? Not exactly a nail-biter. Rajshahi Warriors totally dominated, crushing Chattogram Royals by 63 runs and grabbing their first BPL title ever. Tanzid Hasan’s crazy century and some seriously nasty bowling sealed the deal after Chattogram was chasing 175.
Everyone in Dhaka was ready for a tight game, but Rajshahi just came out and played almost perfectly, batting and bowling. Showed everyone why they were the best team all season.
Chattogram Royals decided to field first, and Rajshahi Warriors didn’t panic. Sahibzada Farhan and Tanzid Hasan started building a good base, knowing how much pressure was on them. Farhan played it safe, scoring 30 off 30 balls so Tanzid could get comfortable and read the field.
Once Tanzid Hasan was ready, he exploded. His timing was spot-on, and he knew exactly what shots to play. That opening partnership of 83 runs in like 10 overs? Awesome. It let Rajshahi go all-out later without worrying about collapsing.
The biggest thing that night? Has to be Tanzid Hasan’s amazing century. He scored 100 off 62 balls which made him only the third player ever to make a hundred in a BPL final, right up there with Tamim Iqbal and Chris Gayle. He hit six 4s and seven HUGE sixes. You could tell he felt good.
Tanzid played it smart. He got singles early, went after the weaker bowlers, and just went crazy at the end. He worked super well with Kane Williamson and Najmul Hossain Shanto. Rajshahi didn’t lose steam. Even when other players got out, Tanzid kept going and got them to a solid 174 for 4.
Kane Williamson only got 24 off 15 balls but he was a big deal. He kept it steady, so Tanzid could cut loose. He’s been in these pressure games before, and you could tell he knew how to control things and keep Rajshahi on track.
He got out before the big finish, but he still helped build a score that won the game.
For Chattogram Royals, Mukidul Islam was the only bowler who shined. He got 2 for 20 and really put the squeeze on when the game could have gone either way. Shoriful Islam got two wickets, too. He ended up being the top wicket-taker in the whole tournament earned him the Player of the Series award.
The other bowlers? I didn’t have a great night. Rajshahi scored at will in the last few overs, pushing the score too high for Chattogram to handle.
If you’re chasing 175 in a final, you need to be calm and work together. Chattogram Royals didn’t do that. Binura Fernando came out firing, getting Mohammad Naim and Mahmudul Hasan Joy out in the same over. That messed them up big time and the team never recovered.
Mirza Baig tried to hold it down with 39, but he kept losing partners to the other team. Hasan Murad’s spin was killer in the middle overs, getting out key players like captain Mahedi Hasan. Chattogram just couldn’t deal with the constant pressure from Rajshahi’s bowlers.
Binura Fernando was on fire, finishing with 4 for 9. Seriously good. He could swing the ball early and hit the right spot again and again, which broke Chattogram’s lineup. Hasan Murad worked perfectly with him, getting three wickets and only giving up 15 runs.
James Neesham kept things locked down, and got the other 2 wickets to make sure no one fought back. Chattogram got bowled out for 111 in under 18 overs. Way short.
This was Rajshahi Warriors’ first BPL championship ever. Tanzid Hasan’s century is gonna be remembered as one of the best innings in BPL final history. Shoriful Islam got 26 wickets that season which gave him Player of the Series because of it.
Also, Chattogram Royals got to the final game, which is awesome because of how hard the season was. Even though they lost big, they gave everyone a good and memorable run.
No huge arguments or anything, but people were talking about Chattogram’s batting game. Some people were a bit confused since they didn’t start as strong, which allowed Rajshahi to get comfortable. Other people were also talking about how Rajshahi spun the ball in the middle overs, which shut down Chattogram’s scoring.
The final also brought up the fact that, not just from during the final, several teams were seen struggling in high-pressure overs during the last part of the game, so people were talking about that as well.
I think this final was perfect on how being prepared and being composed is what makes you win championships. Rajshahi Warriors seemed chill since the first ball of the game. While on the other hand, Chattogram seemed scared, a bit shaken by the stadium. Tanzid Hasan’s innings wasn’t just powerful, it was well-thought out, which made the difference.
Binura Fernando’s bowling was just as impressive. It’s not easy to bowl that well at an important event. And Chattogram’s problem was bad partnerships to make them succeed. Finals are about keeping the pressure, and Rajshai kept that pressure way better than the other team.
Looking at the future, Tanzid Hasan should be taken very seriously in his career of Bangladesh cricket. And so, we should expect that he will be playing a bigger role in upcoming games in the future. Binura fernandos may make him an asset in these coming games.
For Chattogram Royals, players like Mirza Baig and Shoriful Islam are super important. If their batsmen can provide enough firepower, they’ll still be strong when the time arrives.
The Rajshahi vs Chattogram BPL Final on January 23, 2026, was a statement game that shows what Bangladesh League is all about. Rajshahi Warriors didn’t perform very well on the other stats, proving why the champions this year deserved this win. Tanzid Hasan’s great run and some painful bowling made their rightful win a realization.
This final will be remembered as the day that Rajshai Warriors stood up to the Bangladesh Premier League history and so, setting a perfect score and level ground for the future.
